My Study Abroad Experience in Italy (June 2024)

Spending part of my summer in Italy was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience that completely changed the way I see fashion. Being surrounded by the history, craftsmanship, and effortless style of Italian culture deepened my appreciation for the industry and pushed me creatively in ways I never expected.

Bringing Italian Fashion to Life: Etre Magazine

One of the most exciting parts of this trip was working on Etre Magazine, a collaborative project that showcased Italian fashion and aesthetics. As the photographer, I planned and directed an editorial photoshoot, handling everything from concept development and styling to capturing the final shots. Seeing my vision come to life was so rewarding, and writing an accompanying piece to complement the visuals helped me refine my ability to tell a story through fashion. This project gave me firsthand experience in what it takes to create a fashion campaign, and it reinforced my love for creative direction and brand storytelling. Exploring Italy’s Fashion Legacy

Another highlight of my time abroad was curating a lookbook featuring five of Italy’s most iconic designers. I spent time in museums, photographing and analyzing garments that truly embodied each designer’s signature style. Getting to see these pieces up close—examining the fabrics, construction, and intricate details—gave me a whole new level of appreciation for high fashion. How This Experience Shaped Me

This trip was more than just a study abroad program—it was an opportunity to immerse myself in the heart of the fashion world and see everything I’ve learned in class come to life. It strengthened my eye for design, sharpened my research and storytelling skills, and gave me a deeper understanding of luxury fashion from both a historical and modern perspective. Most of all, it reaffirmed my passion for the industry and my dream of working in fashion. Italy left a lasting impact on me, and I can’t wait to apply everything I learned to my future career.
